Wall paint is made for walls and ceilings inside and comes in white and in mixed colours. The gloss level decides how matt the surface looks and how easy it is to wipe down.
Facade paint is a coating that colours and protects the masonry, while a decorative render adds a visible structure on top of the wall. Both are for exterior use and go onto a primed surface.
Lacquers and enamels are used on wood, metal and zinc, in satin or gloss. A primer that matches the substrate goes underneath, so the finish holds and the colour comes out even.
A primer closes an absorbent surface, improves the adhesion and can block a colour underneath. Choose one that matches the substrate and the paint that goes on top.
