Water pump pliers & pipe wrench: which pliers for which job? | Saniso
A water pump pliers (groove-joint / adjustable pliers) is the everyday loose-jaw choice for fittings, couplings and many nuts — and it is not the same tool as a classic Stillson / Swedish pipe wrench. What is a water pump pliers (adjustable pliers)?
Water pump pliers have a sliding pivot so the jaw opening changes in steps. Useful for round and irregular shapes where a fixed combination pliers will not seat.
When to use water pump pliers
Siphons, couplings, soft pipe work, holding nuts in awkward angles — typical plumbing and workshop jobs. For heavy round steel pipe with high grip demand, look at Stillson / Swedish pipe wrenches in their own categories (below).

Pipe wrench / Stillson: not the same as water pump pliers
A Stillson (or Swedish-style) pipe wrench is a dedicated pipe tool with a screw-adjusted jaw for round pipe. Saniso keeps these outside the 70-SKU L3 listing — use the sibling categories:

Threaded steel pipe, fittings where you need pipe-wrench bite rather than groove-joint pliers.

Side cutters for wire; end cutters for front access. Example: side cutters 180 mm STALCO S-14017. Prefer Dutch/English type names in copy (avoid leftover foreign listing titles).
Oil filter pliers and wrenches (related — automotive L4)
