Fila: impregnating and protecting natural stone and tiles
Natural stone, cement tiles and unglazed ceramics are porous. They absorb water, grease and dirt, and you see that as dark spots or rings. Impregnating prevents this: the product soaks into the stone and makes it water and dirt repellent, without leaving a layer on top. Fila is a brand that has long focused on the treatment of tiles and natural stone.
Clean first, then protect
Impregnating only works on a clean, dry floor. Otherwise you seal in whatever is in there.
- After laying: remove cement haze and lime residue with Fila Deterdek Pro. Note: not every acidic product is suitable for every stone. For marble and other calcareous stone you do not use an acidic cleaner; Fila PS87 Pro is an option for the first clean. Always read the label.
- Stains: remove grease and oil stains with Fila No Spot, coloured and organic stains with Fila SR95 stain remover.
- Read more about working cleanly while tiling in our blog on cleaning while tiling.

Which Fila product suits your floor?
- Fila Stoneplus: deepens the colour and gives water and oil repellent protection. Lovely if you want to bring out the natural pattern of the stone.
- Fila Stoneplus Eco: intended for natural stone, marble and granite, when you want protection without strongly changing the appearance.
- Fila Hydrorep Eco: water repellent and breathable, suitable for surfaces that also need protection against moisture outdoors. See also our blog on ceramic garden tiles and cleaning tips.
- Joints: with Fila Fuga Proof joint protector you protect cement-based grout. Refreshing discoloured joints? Read our blog on cleaning and renewing discoloured grout and our blog on choosing the right grout colour.
💡 Always test a product first on a spare tile or an inconspicuous spot. Then you see how the stone reacts before treating the whole floor.
How to apply it
- Clean the floor and let it dry completely, according to the time on the label.
- Apply the product evenly with a brush, cloth or ABS sponge float.
- Remove excess product before it dries, so no shiny patches remain.
- Let the floor dry before using it.
Maintenance
Keep an impregnated floor looking good with a mild cleaner. Fila Cleaner Pro is intended for natural stone; for daily maintenance of tiles you can use Fila Brio universal cleaner.
Working safely
Cleaners and impregnators can irritate your skin. Wear work gloves with nitrile coating, for example nitrile ones (read our blog on nitrile work gloves for professionals), and safety goggles against splashes. When working on the floor, use knee pads. Ensure good ventilation and always follow the label.
👷 Calling in a professional is never unnecessary. For valuable natural stone, large areas or if you are unsure about the material, leave cleaning and impregnating to a natural stone specialist.
